The title of this book is a metaphor for viewing the world as flat or level in terms of commerce and competition.
The book discusses how the Internet is leveling the playing field around the world. It’s why tech support is booming
in Bangalore, India, for instance. But that’s just an outward manifestation of the flattening playing field. What country
has the largest middle class? Not the U.S., but India; their middle class will soon be larger than the entire population
of the U.S. What is soon to be the largest English-speaking country? No, not India, though 100 percent of its college
grads speak English. Rather, it’s China.
The point: English is certainly emerging as THE high tech language in an increasingly high tech world. India and
China realized this long ago. Have your kid’s teachers realized it? Have YOU? Can your children communicate
intelligently in writing? Or can they only write in ‘txt msg shthnd’? (Text message shorthand!) Can they even speak
intelligently? What is their “CWPM” rate? (Curse Words Per Minute) let alone their, “Meaningless-Filler & Gratuitous-
Phrases”, these are repetitive words or phrases, such as ‘like’, ‘um’ or ‘you-know’ in every sentence. It is the ability to
get points across well and succinctly that will enable your kids to make a good living, but they also must be lucky
enough to go to the right schools, staffed by the right teachers, they must pointed in a useful direction. Now that we’
re well into the 21st century, are your kids getting that sort of guidance?
If your email and your Internet posts and your other writings sound like a spoiled teenager that didn’t finish high
school, don’t be surprised if that’s exactly how you’re treated. You will not be able to get or keep many high paying
jobs. You will not be able to ‘reach’ those jobs.
More importantly, do the people we’re paying professional-level wages to educate our children know it? Does YOUR
kid’s principal know it? What about your local school board? What are they doing to get your child ready for the
business requirements for life in this century? Do you know? Why not? Chances are they are all pushing Spanish
and Bilingual education instead!
At all levels of our dear, sweet, caring American Government, want to make this Country a multi-linguistic country.
What they are going to get, is the “Balkanization of America” where many languages are spoken by people who will
have a tendency to live in similar ethnic and language enclaves.
In the eastern European Balkans, each ethnic group hates all the other ethnic groups.
Just like having many various “China Towns” and “German Towns” etc.
During and after the heyday of Ellis Island, many American cities, but especially New York and Chicago, were cities
divided into ethnic and language enclaves. Need I remind you, the various enclaves did not get along, nor was
mingling encouraged, and considered as dangerous. Ethnic gangs were everywhere, if you valued your life and
property, you avoided crossing gang borders.
Now many American cities, both large and small, are once again divided by ethnic, racial, language and cultural
differences… and gang borders.
Multiculturalism without a common language is a breeder of disunity, where many people hate and are suspicious of
everyone else ...because they are so different.
Oil and water will only blend together when an emulsifier is added.
Without the emulsifier, the oil always rises to the top, forcing the water down to the bottom.
The same goes for people; one group will lead and prosper, while other groups flounder.
The true acceptance of cultural diversity requires mutual cultural understanding. If two people can not understand
each others language, how can they even begin to communicate with each other, except in simple rudimentary ways?
Cultural understanding therefore becomes an impossible goal. How can people begin to have ‘acceptance’ and
‘tolerance’ and be ‘inclusive’, when all the diverse cultures can’t even communicate with each other?
The natural emulsifier of a common language is required first.
Study after study has shown that English immersion and other accelerated English programs are much more effective
in preparing immigrants for the “real world.” Yet liberals keep pushing bilingual “education” which only keeps
immigrants from achieving their full potential.
Have you noticed that right here in America, for many jobs now, a major job requirement is to be able to speak
Spanish? Bilingual English and Spanish has become a job requisite.
Non-Spanish speakers need not apply. This is considered acceptable!? Have you seen any job openings where
English is required, and that non English speakers need not apply? Any business placing such a help wanted ad
would be investigated by the EEOC and heavy fines levied against the business. Most newspapers will not even
publish such an ad. So sorry, you can’t do that ...that’s racist!
Oregon law requires that the Fire Department bosses speak the language of their crew. Even if there’s only one, in a
crew of 20. Why not make the Spanish-speakers learn English? This is just another example of the loony left taking
control and putting our safety at risk. Fire Department superiors are now being demoted because they can’t speak
Spanish to accommodate one or more Spanish-only firefighters.

All the Commercial Airline pilots and Air Traffic Flight Control operators the whole world over are required to speak
English with a certain level of English proficiency to fly international flights, or work in international Air Traffic Flight
Control facilities.
The world is changing rapidly due to the Internet. Lead, follow or get out of the way!
To be able to compete in the 21st century in the business of business you must be well versed in the oral and written
language of Business – that’s English.

Doing The Jobs Americans Won't Do?
Rich Lowry has pointed out in National Review:
"According to a new survey by the Pew Hispanic Center, illegals make up 24 percent of workers in agriculture,
17 percent in cleaning, 14 percent in construction, and 12 percent in food production.
So 86 percent of construction workers, for instance, are either legal immigrants or Americans, despite the fact that
this is one of the alleged categories of untouchable jobs."
Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies makes a similar point:
"If the supply of foreign workers were to dry up (say, through actually enforcing the immigration law, for starters),
employers would respond to this new, tighter, labor market in two ways. One, they would offer higher wages,
increased benefits, and improved working conditions, so as to recruit and retain people from the remaining pool of
workers. At the same time, the same employers would look for ways to eliminate some of the jobs they now are having
trouble filling. The result would be a new equilibrium, with blue-collar workers making somewhat better money, but
each one of those workers being more productive.
Economist Phillip Martin of the University of California at Davis -- who specializes in agricultural
economics -- analyzed the bracero guest-worker program of the 1960s and found that when the cheap labor was
withdrawn, remaining workers, members of the United Farm Workers Union, received a 40% increase in wages.
So with this huge rise in wages did the cost of fruits and vegetables spiral out of sight? Nope. In fact, American
consumers barely felt the bump.
Martin figures that if those jobs did not go to illegal aliens, the increased wages for legal American workers would cost
the average family ABOUT $10 A YEAR MORE FOR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES!
So don't let the politicians hustle you and don't let the International Business Lobby make you sweat. You can tell
yourself with certainty: There is no job Americans won't do for a reasonable wage.

The jobs of construction, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, bricklaying, and roofing etc.
Are these all jobs that, “Americans Won’t Do”? Just to name a few. Yet these very jobs are now being overrun with
predominately illegal foreign workers. Once most of the ‘old guard’ American workers are sent packing, the industries
prevailing wage flattens, wage increases disappear and realized wages are gradually reduced by not keeping up with
inflation. Then what happens is that the jobs now pay so little that most real Americans can’t afford to do them.
Have you seen a preponderance of ‘imported foreign workers’
on the Discovery Channel’s, ‘Dirty Jobs’ with Mike Rowe? No!
